Vision and Cognition Group

About

The Vision and Cognition Group at the University of Washington is a research laboratory within the Department of Psychology headed by three faculty members: Geoffrey Boynton, Ione Fine, and Scott Murray. We're a collaborative group of faculty, postdocs, graduate students and postdocs. Each student and postdoc in VisCog group has one primary faculty advisor, but enjoys the collaborative atmosphere of the entire research group. This includes shared laboratory space, joint lab meetings, shared equipment such as eye-tracking equipment, and testing rooms for psychophysics.

Most of our research focuses on human visual processing, including how contextual aspects of a visual scene influence perception and brain responses in visual cortex, how visual attention allows us to select locations, features and objects, and how blindness leads to the reorganization of the occipitial cortex.

Please see our research page for a list of topics and corresponding publications from our lab.
