Backing Page

This page describes the way that I print and attach the backing page. This is still an area of active development, so YMMV!

Export a page image

At this point, we should have a finished model in sample_m.skp. Now, we get to export a combinations of layers as a printable image. Although the Edges layer isn't actually printed, we include it because it outlines the area we need to export.

  • open sample_m.skp
  • make Cells, Edges, Lines, and Print visible
  • use Menu Bar > File > Export > 2D Graphic...
  • export sample.jpg

This procedure is inconvenient and a bit of a hack. It is also OSX- and printer-specific. However, it seems to work OK for small runs and the basic idea should be portable.

  • open sample.jpg in Preview; enter cmd-P (print)
  • set auto-rotate and scale (45%)
  • put backing sheet in feed tray; print

  • open sample.jpg in Preview; enter cmd-P (print)
  • set auto-rotate and scale (45%)
  • put backing sheet back in tray (upside down); print
