Trees (i.e., hierarchies) are an extremely popular form of organization. So, AxAp will need to recognize tree structures whenever possible and present them in a standards-compliant manner.


The W3C's WAI-ARIA standard (commonly known as ARIA) should be our starting point for presentation of trees, e.g.:


The nice thing about tree encodings is that there are so many to choose from:

  • markup for code coloring and folding
  • markup for directory tree viewers
  • section headings and lists in HTML
  • ...

So, we'll start with HTML section headings and lists, adding others as our resources and interests allow.
