Newsletter - September, 2015

Welcome to the SF Bay Area Acoustic Guitar Society (SFBA AGS) newsletter. See below for recent news, upcoming events, and random speculation. Please contact me (Rich Morin) with news items, comments, or suggestions.

New News

Here's a summary of (relatively) current group-related news. Additions and corrections are welcome!

Administrivia

Our membership has grown to about 200, but more guitar enthusiasts are always welcome! If you have friends who might like to know about local guitar events, please let them know about the meetup. Having more members means we'll all hear about more events; we'll also be able to sponsor more events and/or support more performers.

I'd really like to know more about the membership, so that we can prioritize our outreach and event sponsorship efforts. If you haven't already done so, please answer the three questions in "My profile > View profile" on our Meetup page:

  • How did you hear about this meetup?
  • Where do you live? (e.g., city and county)
  • What are your favorite genre(s) of guitar music?

Acoustic Masters

Three Acoustic Masters (Steve Baughman, Teja Gerken, and Jon Mendle) will be playing for SFBA AGS on September 26th at Dynamic Energy Crystals. The repertoire will range from Celtic through classical, folk, jazz, and world music, so there should be something for everyone (who likes acoustic guitar :-).

Group Discussions

Meetup provides a pair of tools to enable group discussions:

  • Any member can send messages to the Mailing List
and/or subscribe to a feed of messages via Atom or RSS.

  • Any member can post messages to the Message Board
and/or track posts via a daily email summary.

If you're looking for a way to get in touch with fellow members (e.g., to collaborate musically), these are great resources.

Old News

Here's a list of (dated, but still relevant) topics from previous newsletters:
