YAGO - Installation
At ~311 million RDF triples, YAGO is a very substantial database.
So, loading it into Neo4j can take a while.
Here's how I'm approaching it...
Hardware, OS, etc.
I use Mac OS X (and Apple Macintosh computers) for my Neo4j work.
I have two types of machines, which vary greatly
in processor and memory complement:
- 8-core Mac Pro (Early 2008; Mac OS X 10.9.5)
2 x 1.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon; 28 GB (800 MHz DDR2)
- 2-core MacBook Air (Mac OS X 10.9.2)
1.8 GHz Intel Core i7; 4 GB (1333 MHz DDR3)
I can also choose to store the Neo4j database files on an SSD drive.
All told, this should give me useful hints about Neo4j's resource needs.
Neo4j provides various ways to import information.
Unfortunately, most of them do not match my (somewhat peculiar) needs.
However, a Superfast Batch Importer (SBI) is currently in development.
